The stoop for the first weeks
For a short climb, a modular ramp goes in now and comes out later. For a tall rowhouse stoop where no ramp fits, a second rail and a lit landing are usually the first-week answer.

The entry, the bathroom and a reachable bed, made ready before your parent comes home from a DC hospital or rehab.
You reach us directly. Your number is never sold.
A rehab team will not send a parent home to a house they cannot get into. In DC that usually means the stoop out front and a bathroom one flight up.
Tell us the discharge date on the first call. The work is planned backward from it, entry first, then the bath, then a bed on a floor the person can reach.
Days matter here, so the first visit covers only what the person needs on day one. The rest of the house waits for the full assessment once recovery settles.
When it is done, the family gets a written report of every change to share with the care team.

When the bedroom is up a narrow stair, the dining room often becomes the bedroom for now. We clear a path to it and put rails and light around it. If a hospital bed is coming, we leave room on both sides for transfers.
Grab bars into structure, a raised toilet seat and a shower seat go in first. If the only full bath is upstairs, the plan says how bathing works until the stairs are possible again.
Raised thresholds and narrow doors on the path from bed to bathroom get adjusted so a walker rolls straight through.
Typical installed ranges are on the hospital discharge page. Your own price comes in writing after the walk.
The discharge date, what equipment is coming home, which door the patient will use, how many steps it has and whether the bath is upstairs.
Yes, with the landlord's written permission. We write that request for you so it does not hold up the date.
Yes, if you share it. The completion report lists each change, with photos.
Discharge dates can shift. The work is ordered so the first pieces, the entry and the toilet, are finished first, whatever day the patient comes home.
Discharge work handles the entry, bathroom and bed first and leaves the rest for later. When your parent is settled back in, these pages cover the longer fixes the house may still need.
Have the discharge date ready when you call, and the DC work gets planned around it.
