What HOPP and HRAP pay for
The county lists roofs, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water heaters and accessibility work. We only do the accessibility part. A new roof or furnace is outside what we sell.
Services go up to $30,000, and up to $50,000 for households below 50 percent of area median income. HRAP also offers a 0 percent loan up to $60,000 with no monthly payment.
How to apply in Prince George's County
Call Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland at 301-990-0014, extension 19. Ask which of the two programs fits your house and what the county wants to see from you.
Where we stand with HOPP and HRAP
We are not a participating contractor for HOPP or HRAP, and we do not apply for you. Ask Habitat how the contractor is chosen for your job.
A county repair budget can go to the roof or the water heater first. If it does, the bathroom may still need grab bars and the front steps may still need a rail on both sides. We hold a Maryland contractor license, and we can walk the house and price that work as a private job, kept apart from anything the program has in its scope.
If the ramp or a bathroom change needs a permit, the written scope says so. In Prince George's County that permit comes from the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement, known as DPIE.
