What moves the price of a Maryland ramp
The rise to the door
Measure from the ground to the top of the sill. Every extra inch of rise adds ramp length, and once the run gets long enough it has to turn back on itself, with a flat landing at each turn.
Where the ramp can come down
A deep front yard can take a straight run. Lots in parts of Prince George's County slope, and on a lot like that the easier way in may be from the driveway or through the back door. That changes the length, and the price with it.
Aluminum sections or a ramp built on site
Modular aluminum bolts together and comes back out when the need is over, so it fits a short recovery. A wood or concrete ramp is built for that house and stays with it.
The county permit
A ramp built in place can need a permit. In Montgomery County that's the Department of Permitting Services. In Prince George's County it's the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement. Some cities inside those counties have rules of their own, so check with the city as well.
How we price a Maryland ramp
We price a Maryland ramp after the walk. We measure each step, the landing, the door and the ground the ramp would cross, and the entry goes into the written report along with the rest of the house.
When a ramp fits, the scope spells out its length, the landings, the railings and any door work under one fixed price. When it doesn't, the report says so and lays out the other ways in, like rails on both sides of the steps or a lift.
If the hospital has already set a discharge date, tell us on the first call and we'll plan the work back from that day.
You see the full price in writing before a single section goes in.

Where these numbers come from
We looked for a ramp price measured on Maryland houses and didn't find one. Angi and Fixr give national figures, and HomeAdvisor's calculator works from whatever measurements you type in. None of them looked at Maryland, so your number comes in writing once we've measured the rise.
- Angi, wheelchair ramp installation, read October 2026. A national cost range for installing a wheelchair ramp.
- HomeAdvisor, ramp calculator, read October 2026. An estimate built from the ramp details a visitor enters.

Questions families ask
Does Maryland help pay for a ramp?
Maryland DHCD runs the Accessible Homes for Seniors program. Montgomery County homeowners can ask the county about the Design for Life tax credit, and veterans can ask the VA about the HISA grant. Terms change, so confirm each one before you count on it.
Does a ramp builder in Maryland need a license?
Yes. Maryland requires a home improvement license for this kind of work on a house, so ask anyone who quotes your ramp to show you theirs. We hold a Maryland contractor license.
Can a ramp go on a rented house in Maryland?
Yes, if the landlord agrees in writing. A modular ramp leaves nothing permanent behind, and we write the permission letter for you to send.
